The Aesthetic Underground exists to nurture and encourage
emerging literary, musical, theatrical & visual artists
from Central Illinois
by allowing them an opportunity
to experiment and succeed in their craft
and providing a network of mentors.
The Aesthetic Underground is a forum for poets, dancers, magicians, musicians, novelists, vocalists, playwrights & thespians. Come to perform or to clap and cheer; it is a different show every time! We’ve had cozy book discussions, impromptu musical sessions, comedic sketches and rocked out with 80-plus in concert!
We have a special place in our heart for Central Illinois writers and we emphisise the literary arts by featuring authors and small press publishers.
The AU is a great forum to network w/ other music professionals. How often do you wish you had the opportunity to play with people from other bands? How often have you admired another’s work and wanted compare notes, but never seem to have the time or place?
The Aesthetic Underground IS that time and place! Please know you have a standing invitation to use the AU as a get-together spot for cross-band jam sessions.
